A very… Convenient deal. Ephelia gives the mysterious woman her knife, and receives a free ride to town x2, a new knife, and new not-covered-in-blood clothes.
Just what is the significance of the knife, and why does the mysterious woman want it so much?

My first guess would be something is ever-so-slightly wrong with it. Either that, or it isn’t about the dagger, but about what our protagonist will get in return.

    this is very weird indeed
a young girl appears out of the nowhere accompanied by a guy that she doesn’t even know his name, she’s covered in blood on her white high class dress, she’s holding a weird looking book, and a bag with a weird knife that she carried from a hidden place inside the woods where her bigger brother used to stay, and sure enough this weird woman will take the weird knife and give the young girl another knife, and a new dress, and more than all she’ll agree to escort her with the suspicious guy to their destination! hmmm…

alright that sounds all good! great deal looking forward the next page!

What type of adult makea a deal with a little girl and not the guy? He may look like a servant (I hope) but he is older. Taking the knife is just disarmimg, the free transport is abduction and the xlean clothes are.so.it doesn’t look suspicious. Can’t wait to hear what that guy has to say for himself and like the colourful backgrounds.

Considering how unnaturally he moves, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t even sentinent. Some sort of foil the monster cooked up for her so she doesn’t look like an unaccompanied little girl? If so, the winged lady may have picked up on that.

Otherwise, she looks like a noble, and the guy doesn’t. Servants simply don’t enter the equation, it’s not like they can order a noble around without being given formal authority by their parent.

You know, I hadn’t really considered that. If the guy is some sort of product made by the monster (maybe an entirely second monster?), that explains his strange attitude, not answering when Ephelia asks his name, and even where he came from (maybe he was even one of the Paladins).
That could be a good theory.
